Why the HES Program?
It’s Simple, Save Energy – Save Money – Go Green!
Your energy usage at home is divided into eight major categories, (see chart). The Home Energy Solutions Program is a simple, inexpensive way to address a majority of the energy uses associated with your energy costs, and help you save money on your utility bills. It is an excellent first step to ensure that you have an energy efficient home.
If you qualify for the program – on average – you receive approximately $725 worth of installed energy efficiency products and services and you save $150 – $250 or more annually on your utility bills.*
You are only responsible for a $75 copay at the time that the services are delivered. The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund (CEEF) covers the balance within defined program guidelines**. For UI customers only, effective 6/25/10, for oil and gas heating customers, this copay may have increased. Contact CRI for more information.
Here are the facts. By going beyond a simple home energy audit, you receive the following comprehensive analysis and installation services:

- Blower door analysis to locate and seal air leaks to reduce heating and cooling costs
- Duct work analysis to find and seal leaks, further reducing AC and heating costs
- Review of insulation levels and coordination of cost-effective installations if warranted
- Assess heating and cooling system needs for upgrades, possible rebates and financing options
- Review of appropriate opportunities for energy efficient lighting and installation of up to 25 new Compact Fluorescent bulbs (CFLs)
- Assess need for and install water saving measures
- Review of appliances for general efficiency levels
- Provide information on applicable rebates and tax credits for energy efficiency improvements
- Contractor Coordination services to help find the right professionals to provide any additional energy saving services needed (i.e. insulation, heating system upgrades, etc.)
Connecticut’s Energy Efficiency Programs are funded by a Charge on Customer energy bills. The Programs are designed to help customers manage their energy usage and cost.
* The dollar value of delivered services, as well as actual energy/dollar savings, varies by home based on size, age, condition, energy usage patterns, and other factors.
**Funding is made possible by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund (CEEF). The program funds come from electric and gas customers throughout Connecticut through a service charge on the utility bills.
